Commissions for Prominent Figures
Eduardo Moctezuma has created portraits for prominent entrepreneurs and public figures.
Among them is Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, who commented upon seeing his portrait:
“I had never seen myself portrayed so realistically anywhere other than in a mirror.”
— Ricardo Salinas Pliego
Moctezuma has also created portraits for internationally recognized figures including Grant Cardone, entrepreneur and author, and John Travolta, actor.
These works demonstrate the artist’s ability to capture not only the physical likeness of a subject, but also their presence and character.
Critical Commentary
Mexican sculptor Jorge Marín, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary figurative art in Mexico, wrote about Moctezuma’s work:
“Eduardo’s pictorial work does not require theoretical frameworks or formal analysis to exist. Even beyond its creator, it moves through time and across societies, always solid in its essence—both universal and concrete—where a tree is simply a tree in all its splendor, and a gaze becomes a human synthesis that transcends time.
It is worth following closely the development of this young artist who, by revisiting classical techniques, invites us once again to observe the extraordinary human phenomenon of reinterpreting our surroundings with a fresh perspective, firmly grounded in the here and now, as a faithful witness of our present moment.
— Jorge Marín
